Dr. Attai is a board-certified surgeon and highly regarded women's health expert and advocate. The focus of her practice is the treatment of women with surgical and nonsurgical breast conditions.
She emphasizes breast cancer awareness and early detection, and often evaluates women at high risk for breast cancer. These consultations include discussion about the genetic testing and the utility of MRI examinations. She offers the HALO breast "pap" test to selected patients to help evalute their risk of developing breast cancer.
She performs her own ultrasound-guided biopsies, and is often able to treat patients with benign breast conditions in a minimally invasive fashion in the office, without surgery. She is one of only a few surgeons in Southern California utilizing the techniques of ultrasound-guided percutaneous excision and cryoablation for benign breast lesions.
Patients who require treatment for breast cancer will benefit from her use of state-of-the-art treatments, including ultrasound-guided lumpectomy, which can reduce the amount of normal breast tissue removed. She regularly performs procedures such as sentinel lymph node biopsy and skin-sparing mastectomy when indicated. In addition, she has significant experience with catheter-based partial breast irradiation, a technique which allows selected patients to complete their radiation therapy in only 5 days, instead of 6 weeks.
